Wout van Aert’s plan for his 2025 road racing season is taking shape, with starts at both the Giro d’Italia and Tour de France on the cards this season. The Belgian will make his road debut at Clásica Jaén ahead of the full cobbled Classics season, but he will not be competing in Strade Bianche or Milan-San Remo.

Before a crash at Dwars door Vlaanderen derailed his spring campaign and threw off his season plans, the Belgian was scheduled to compete in both of the Grand Tours in 2024. However, the crash caused his plans to be thrown off, including his career debut in Italy.

On the other hand, Het Laatste Nieuws has disclosed that the Visma-Lease A Bike leader is making preparations to participate in both the Giro and the Tour this season. Additionally, sprinter Olav Kooij is scheduled to compete in the Giro.

After the conclusion of his shortened cyclocross season in late January, during which he captured his first victory in Dendermonde on Sunday, Van Aert will proceed to a final pre-season training camp before making his debut in 2025 at the Clásica Jaén. This will take place on February 17th.

After that, he will continue his preparations for the spring Classics season by travelling to the Volta ao Algarve. In preparation for the E3 Saxo Classic, Gent-Wevelgem, a return to Dwars door Vlaanderen, and the two greatest ambitions of his career, the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix, Van Aert will compete in both races during Opening Weekend. After that, he will spend some time at high altitude in Tenerife after that.

Strade Bianche and Milan-San Remo, both of which he has won in the past, are not going to be part of his plans for the spring. However, he is going to make a trip to the Amstel Gold Race, which he won in 2021, in order to finish off his Classics campaign.

After the spring, his primary objectives will be to compete in the Giro and the Tour de France; however, the other events on Van Aert’s schedule for 2025 have not yet been determined. In light of the fact that both he and Kooij will be participating in the Italian Grand Tour, which will begin in Albania on May 5th, Van Aert is expected to continue his role as a star lead-out for the young sprint cyclist. At the 2023 Tour of Britain, where Van Aert assisted Kooij in winning four consecutive stages, the pairing has previously achieved success. Additionally, at the 2024 Clásica de Almería, they have also achieved success.

Additionally, it is expected that Van Aert will be able to compete for his own successes and stage victories during the race. Additionally, it is likely that he will be able to balance his duties as a domestique and stage hunter during the Tour, where his teammate Jonas Vingegaard will be attempting to win a third overall victory.
