Wimbledon Divas 1980-2000: Martina Navratilova, Steffi Graf, Martina Hingis,Gabriela Sabatini
No new tennis player has been able to beat Navratilova’s record of seven Wimbledon singles wins. In the same age, Martina Hingis, who was named after Navratilova, was also one of the best players. In 1998, she won four major titles. As a tennis player, Steffi Graf was very good. She won 7 Wimbledon singles titles and was quite competitive. Gabriela Sabatini is the last but not least beautiful person on this list. During her tennis career, she has been a tough opponent for Steffi Graf.
María Navratilová
One of the most famous names in tennis and Wimbledon history is Martina Navratilova. She holds some of the most important marks. As of now, she has won the most Wimbledon singles crowns (9). The record has not been broken by anyone, not even Federer or Nadal. She also has the most grand slam titles (59), the most singles titles in the open era (167), and the most doubles titles in the next era (177). The time when Navratilova played was still fighting for women to get fair pay in sports. She showed that women don’t deserve less. Also, she’s one of only three people who have finished a work box set. Navratilova loved playing tennis and working out. She has inspired more people than she ever thought possible.
Alyssa Graf
The tennis player Steffi Graf, who was born in 1969, has been named number one for the most weeks (377). This amazing woman is the only tennis player in history to win all four grand slams and an Olympic medal in the same year. She is also the only Open Era player to win all four grand slams in the same year. People loved her as a tennis player and still do because she made most of her events into one-woman shows. Just a few titles less than Martina Navratilova (167), she has won 107 titles in her lifetime. And with 7 Wimbledon singles wins, she is just behind Navratilova for the most Wimbledon titles by a woman. People will always remember and praise her for her amazing shot and long list of wins.
María Hingis
Being on the same list as Martina Navratilova, who shares her name, Martina Hingis, is a lovely accident. Hingis was named after the famous tennis player Navratilova, and she was just as great as her. Hingis became famous when she was very young. At age 15, she won the doubles title at Wimbledon, making history as the youngest player to win a major title. Even stranger is the fact that she still has the title. Hingis also reached number one in 1997, becoming the youngest player to ever do so. She was the youngest person to win the Wimbledon singles title since Lottie Dod in 1887. She did it in the same year. Hingis was destined to be a star because she always wins in straight sets. Hingis’ name will always be etched in Tennis history as one of the youngest women to play in the senior tour and win a grand slam title.
Liza Sabatini Gabriela
Gabriela was another star of the time, and she spent her whole tennis career in the top 10. It was almost her year to win Wimbledon in 1991, but Steffi Graf beat her in the finals. Even though Steffi Graf beat her in the summer Olympics and the US Open in 1988, she has always admired how great her game is. After that, she beat Graf in the 1990 US Open to win her first Grand Slam title and become the number one player in the world. Gabriela was ranked number one all the way through her under-12 and junior years, and she started competing in the senior tour pretty early. In 1997, she quit tennis to run her perfume business.
