For Gabriela Sabatini, tennis came at her very quickly. It had to. There are some limits on getting better at the sport when you are only 14. The Argentine never let anything stop her from reaching her goals, but it was very hard on her mental health. She never smiled at friends and friendly faces; it was the thought of winning more awards that made her smile. Up until it wasn’t.At the top, it can get lonely. Sabatini had to look at that sad picture, which was bad for her. The former tennis player won 41 titles, including the US Open in 1990. He was also the youngest player to win the prestigious Orange Bowl. Even though the Argentine had a lot of skill and had to deal with a lot of pressure, he burned out at age 26. Even though she came back for a short time after two years, her beautiful side was gone for good. The athlete who was once seen as “arrogant” had some interesting things to say about why people didn’t like her behaviour back then.

In a special chat with “The Guardian” on June 16, 2003, the Argentine talked about how distant she was at the time. Fans always wanted to know why Sabatini never greeted other players. He told them, “It’s hard to make friends on the tour.” People play alone; you play your game and then leave. In turn, this was the past World No. 3’s weak spot.

When someone is going through an existential crisis, not having a work incentive could help them turn things around, but when they are lonely, those chances are gone. Having won and lost by herself, Gabriela was stuck in a circle of bad luck. The Argentine had never been with a group of people other than her teacher and brother, with whom she had a close relationship. Due to the stress of being alone and the thought of giving up the thing that made her great, she quit the sport before it was over.
