Rassie Erasmus, the coach of South Africa’s national team, recently gave an interview on the Official Springbok YouTube channel, in which he discussed the South Africans who are fans of the All Blacks.

Rassie has stated that he is aware of the “historical reasons and hartseer” that have led to the support of the All Blacks by a number of South Africans, and that “we should take, understand, respect, and mind that.”Rassie believes that it is essential to comprehend the fact that the All Blacks supporters in South Africa want to “give back” by showing their support for a nation that backed them during the time of apartheid.

Rassie says that supporters of the Springboks should not be “upset” about this matter because it stems from a long and illustrious heritage that ought to be honoured by supporters of all teams. “If that’s what they feel they want to give back because there was times when they got support… let’s give it to them, why would you be upset with somebody if you haven’t won them over yet?”

“It would be wonderful if there was possibly something that you could still do to win them over. On the other hand, if there isn’t, you should respect their viewpoint so long as it doesn’t become distracting and awkward.

“People can support who they want… let them be happy if they win and sad if they lose, just like we are when we win or lose.”

Many people in South Africa have come to view the Springboks as a symbol of unity, despite the fact that South Africa has a long history.

Each member of the Springboks signifies a great deal more than simply being a rugby player in South Africa due to the fact that they come from a variety of different backgrounds.

Rassie is aware of the value of this image, particularly when it comes to representing South Africa. Not only is it about winning the world championship in rugby, but it is also about the things that the Springboks represent for the people of South Africa, which include togetherness, peace, and transformation in the present day.
