Manchester United
Wayne Rooney claims there is “no way back” for the rest of the team and identifies just TWO Manchester United players he would keep.
Even though Wayne Rooney has called for significant changes at Manchester United, he has publicly stated that he will only retain two players.
The team is now wallowing in 14th position in the table after a dismal season, and it doesn’t seem probable that they will end the season in the top half of the rankings.
The Europa League is currently United’s sole chance to win a trophy this season after they were eliminated from the FA Cup by Fulham. They will be eligible to play in the Champions League once again if they are successful in winning the Europa League.
According to United great Wayne Rooney, the team should start over during the summer transfer window by cutting most of its players. The reason for this is that under Ruben Amorim, the team is struggling greatly to find any sort of continuity.
In actuality, the United record scorer blasted most of the players for their lack of character and desire to fight, and he would only retain the captain Bruno Fernandes and the wonderkid Kobbie Mainoo.
On the Stick to Football podcast, which is presented by Sky Bet, Rooney responded as follows when asked if there is a chance for this Manchester United team to go back on track: Definitely not, in my view. They seem to be confused. They seem upset. The one who keeps on producing is Bruno Fernandes, and despite his occasional annoyance, he keeps on producing. Ten to fifteen players should quit the team, in my opinion, and they need to make major changes to the squad. There is a mindset in the squad where no one is prepared to take responsibility, even if it is clear that they cannot do it.
Two players that I would suggest keeping on the roster are Bruno and [Kobbie] Mainoo. The club has a culture where losing games is too easy, and players will publicly say things like, “Onto the next one,” and other such crap. You just have to compete on the pitch and be a good person. It hurts and is upsetting to witness. Despite being originally from Liverpool, I have spent a lot of time at United, and I want the team to succeed because I have kids in the academy and it hurts to see them.
Majoroo is planning to leave United.
It appears that the England international has already made up his mind, even though Rooney believes that Mainoo is a player around whom United should be constructing the team.
According to reports from The Guardian, Mainoo, who is rumoured to make twenty thousand pounds a week, intends to decline any contract offers from United.
The Premier League team Chelsea, which plays against him, has expressed a lot of interest in him, but Mainoo is rumoured to prefer making a big move outside.
Although United has not yet given up on persuading Mainoo to stay with the team, they are prepared to transfer him if their £70 million asking price is fulfilled.
