Marcus Rashford was left out of Lee Carsley’s England squad, and former England winger Chris Waddle understands why. Waddle suggests the Manchester United striker has to transfer clubs in order to further his international career.

Along with Jack Grealish of Manchester City, one of the prominent absences from England’s EURO 2024 squad was Rashford. Grealish has been fortunate enough to be called up by interim manager Carsley for September’s internationals, but the United player has not been as fortunate.

Erik ten Hag’s team finished third in the Premier League and won the EFL Cup in 2022–23, and Rashford, a product of the United academy, had his best goalscoring season to date. Nevertheless, his form declined the previous season, and he has failed to score in three games this term.

He was rumoured to be leaving Old Trafford for the summer. But Waddle thinks the 26-year-old should step outside of his comfort zone now.

In addition to the £216 bill savings for Sky Sports subscribers, here are three more reasons to choose it.

Erik ten Hag should quit assigning responsibility for Man Utd’s problems because he is not entirely to blame.
Waddle stated NewBettingSites.uk, “I can understand why Lee Carsley has left Marcus Rashford out of the England squad; he doesn’t do enough.” “He’s a fantastic player when it comes to his game; we saw that two years ago when he scored over 30 goals; that’s what you want out of him.

We haven’t seen that since then. He didn’t do it last season, and he hasn’t done it yet this season. There are moments when it seems like he’s not even on the pitch, and I’m not sure if that’s due to a lack of desire or enthusiasm. He doesn’t appear to be concerned. Between the beginning of this season and the previous one, he hasn’t been there.

After that incredible season, I believe Manchester United should have sold him two years ago. It was the correct moment; he needed to move on. He’s spent his entire career at United, and I believe that occasionally players just become used to the environment. “I know what this kid is capable of,” Erik ten Hag will be thinking, but he just doesn’t do it.

Waddle made his remarks after Dwight Yorke, a former United striker, said Rashford was dissatisfied at Old Trafford. The Treble champion told talkSPORT, “You can bring in the best coaches around him, but he has to have that burning desire to get himself back.”

“We are aware of his immense talent and aptitude. But he won’t be able to return to that level if he isn’t willing to put in the work necessary to truly improve over his worst season of the previous year. That ought to be his desire.

“I’ve stood up for Marcus a lot, but he just seems sad. I’m not sure why, but he doesn’t appear to be enjoying football as much as he used to.
