The results of Arsenal’s previous five meetings against PSV Eindhoven and how they performed.
After making light work of the brand-new league phase, the Gunners are getting ready to play the Dutch champions in the round of 16 of the Champions League. As a result of their success in the last four games of the season, they finished in third place in the table, which allowed them to avoid playing two additional games in February.
The squad led by Mikel Arteta may have anticipated that they would be returning to Italy in March, with Juventus and Milan among their possible opponents in the round of 16, but the unexpected successes of PSV and Feyenoord ensured that they would be travelling to the Netherlands.
Arsenal is on the same side of the draw with PSG, Liverpool, Club Brugge, Aston Villa, and the two Madrid clubs as a result of their draw with PSV. In spite of this, the Gunners have suffered a lacklustre performance in their attack due to the absence of their most prolific goal scorers, and the north Londoners are currently facing a lot of challenges. PSV is also having a difficult time, but there is no assurance that Arsenal will win the match over the course of two legs.
As the Gunners prepare to make their return to the Philips Stadion, the following is a rundown of how their five most recent matches against PSV have turned out.

Arsenal are playing PSV for the first time in the knockout rounds of the Champions League since they were defeated by the Dutch team in the last 16 of the 2006–07 season.
The team managed by Arsene Wenger was defeated by Eindhoven by a score of 1-0, which was due to Edison Mendez scoring in the second half. This meant that in order to advance, they needed to win by a couple of goals at the Emirates. The match was tied after Alex scored an own goal, but the Chelsea loanee would later make amends by delivering the devastating blow that caused Arsenal to be eliminated from the competition.
PSV advanced to the quarterfinals thanks to the outstanding performance of the Brazilian defender who scored a goal in the final minutes of the second leg. However, Liverpool made short work of Ronald Koeman’s team in the round of eight, which allowed them to advance to the championship match in Athens.
October 2022: Arsenal defeats PSV by a score of 1-0

Despite the fact that both teams were regulars in Europe over the preceding years, the two clubs did not compete against each other until they were put together in Group A of the Europa League in 2022/23.
The Gunners overcome the disappointment of losing out on a top-four finish the previous season by emerging as surprise title candidates during this season. Mikel Arteta’s project in north London was able to fly during this season.
Previous to their match against PSV at the Emirates, Arsenal had already defeated Bodo/Glimt twice and FC Zurich away from their home stadium. In north London, the visitors performed quite well, although they were inefficient in front of the net. Granit Xhaka, who was in the middle of a career year in front of goal, delivered the critical blow with twenty minutes remaining in the game. However, their ability to tame a potent PSV attack established the ingredients for victory.
In October of 2022, PSV defeated Arsenal by a score of 2-0.

After Eindhoven, Arteta’s squad’s lack of high-quality depth was brought to light, despite the fact that he was eager to use the most talented members of his team in Europe.
Despite the fact that Arsenal had dominated their first match against PSV the previous week, the Dutch team was outstanding at the Philips Stadion, where they achieved a 2-0 victory that brought the margin between them and the group leaders down to two points.
A Gunners XI that had players such as Rob Holding and Albert Sambi Lokonga was unable to contain Xavi Simons, a playmaker who was on loan from another club and had a significant impact in the first half of the match. After having a lacklustre performance at the Emirates, Cody Gakpo, who was considered a potential transfer target for Manchester United prior to his move to Liverpool, came to the forefront of the conversation. The difference was determined by goals scored by Joey Veerman and Luuk de Jong, despite the fact that neither star player was on the scoresheet. The hosts were also disallowed three goals throughout the match.

The Emirates has been wanting Arsenal to return to the Champions League for a long time. There had been a period of time that exceeded six years since Bayern Munich had visited their territory in order to humiliate the Gunners for the final time. A humiliating loss to the Bavarian giants by a score of 5-1 was the last thing that supporters of their team could remember from their participation in Europe’s most prestigious club championship.
The north Londoners were unable to achieve title glory in the 2022–2023 season, but Arteta led them back to the land that had been promised to them. An legendary song was about to be played, and Peter Bosz’s PSV had very little chance of winning. Bosz’s high-octane style was ruthlessly exposed by a maturing Gunners squad that had swiftly become wise on the European arena. It was a celebratory night for Arsenal as they participated in their group stage opening on their own turf.
The home team was leading by a score of 3-0 at the halftime break, and the outstanding Martin Odegaard added some additional gloss to the scoreline in the last phases of the match.

Ahead of the reverse fixture, Arsenal had already secured their place in the group, and PSV had also qualified for the next phase of the competition, despite the fact that they had been defeated in a spectacular manner on Matchday 1.
During the match against Eindhoven, Arteta utilised a significant amount of rotation. Jakub Kiwior started at left back, Kai Havertz played ahead of Jorginho and Mohamed Elneny in the middle of the pitch, while Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah were responsible for attacking the ball. PSV were also not operating at their full capacity.
The score was tied shortly before halftime thanks to a deft finish by Nketiah, but Bosz’s team responded at the beginning of the second half thanks to Yorbe Vertessen, who later went on to play for Union Berlin before joining RB Salzburg in the summer.
There was not a great deal of determination on either side to win the match, and as a result, the two teams played out a very forgettable 1-1 tie.
