The Extraordinary Testimony of Helen Shapiro — First Things in the Morning

I am curious as to whether or not you recall the “swinging 60s” as it was referred to. Yes, I do, and I must say that the decade in question was quite fascinating.

Helen Shapiro, who rose to fame at the tender age of 14, was one of the most well-known singers of that era. Music was distinctive throughout that historical period. Her album sales reached millions by the time she was 19 years old, and at one point in her career, she was more successful than the Beatles.

Walkin’ Back to Happiness, her big tune, is undoubtedly the thing that people remember her for the most. In the course of her lengthy career, Helen Shapiro has gone on to become a well-respected jazz vocalist. She has performed in a multitude of venues.

On the other hand, in 1987, she made a decision that would forever change her life: she committed her life to Jesus Christ. She had been raised in a typical Jewish home in East London, where she had been raised immersed in the Jewish faith. As far as she was concerned, there was never a moment when she did not have faith in God. But her life shifted when she became a famous teenager.

My mind was completely occupied with the pleasure of recording records and touring, and I completely forgot about spiritual matters. Not only did I never experiment with drugs, but I was also fascinated with clairvoyants and mediums. She continues by saying, “I attended a few of their meetings.”

At the age of forty, however, Helen’s life was devoid of meaning, and she was confronted with an internal crisis. She was completely devoid of any belief.

sacrificing all for the sake of Jesus
On one occasion, she was able to spend time with Bob, who was her musical director, and his wife. They discussed what Jesus meant to them and were active members of the Christian community. It came as a surprise to her when Bob informed her that he would be leaving his work in the music industry in order to devote his time to preaching full-time.

She expressed her feeling by saying, “I was impressed by his conviction – I couldn’t get it out of my mind.” Since I was only familiar with Jesus as a historical figure, I was wondering if He was more than that. Helen prayed to Jesus, asking him to demonstrate to her whether or not He was, in fact, the Messiah. Over the course of the subsequent several days, she kept coming across people who were connected to Jesus, and she found literature everywhere she went.

She was given a book to read, and while she was reading it, she discovered many passages in the Bible that described the arrival of Jesus. She then went out and purchased a Bible for herself. “Jesus came out of the pages at me, and I was drawn to Him like a magnet,” she added. “I cannot explain how I felt.” While I was comparing the Old and New Testaments, I found that everything pointed to Jesus being the Messiah of the Jewish people.

After reading all four Gospels, she was persuaded that Jesus fulfilled every prophecy that had been made concerning the Messiah. She was convinced that Jesus was the Messiah.

On August 26, 1987, at 10:30 p.m., Helen Shapiro made a request to Jesus to enter her life, and she was subsequently reborn. Around six months later, her mother also made a commitment to Jesus, despite the fact that some of her acquaintances were skeptical of her decision. She maintains that the gospel is accessible to all people.

“I love the music, especially jazz, but not the showbiz way of life,” she adds in response to a question about whether or not she missed the show business. She devotes a significant portion of her time to spreading the gospel through this medium.

“This is the path that the Lord has appointed for my life. It is the most gratifying and exciting thing that has ever happened. Jesus instructed me to go and create disciples, and I am following his instructions. to share with individuals the good news that salvation is available through Jesus Christ, the Messiah. Nothing could possibly be more ideal than that!
