Even though the Argentine has only been at Aston Villa for a few weeks, his future there may not be guaranteed. The likelihood that he will depart the Birmingham team before the summer transfer window closes is increasing.

An Italian team is reportedly interested in the midfielder, and according to Calciomercato, that team is Lazio. Villa manager Unai Emery is rumoured to have lost faith in the player.

Barrenechea is thought to be a possible target for the Roman club, who are looking for midfield options. He may be signed on an initial loan with a buyout option.
Lazio is being encouraged to pursue a move for the 23-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Frosinone from Juventus, because some of their other choices have large asking costs.

The loan transfer of Samuel Iling-Junior to Bologna is almost complete, and Aston Villa’s agreement with Juventus to get Douglas Luiz appears to be losing ground daily.
