Speedy winger selected at Pick 56 Collingwood has selected winger William Hayes with Pick 56 on night two of the 2024 Telstra AFL Draft.

On the second night of the 2024 Telstra AFL Draft, Collingwood made the selection of winger William Hayes with the 56th overall pick.

William Hayes, who was born in 2006, is a 180-centimeter winger who had his junior football training at Subiaco JFC. He then went on to establish himself as a prominent player in the WAFL Colts with Claremont.


Hayes, who was a member of the bottom age group, participated in ten games for Claremont in 2023. He impressed with his intelligent running patterns, endurance, and savvy usage of the ball.

In addition to retrieving the ball and regaining possession of it from defense, the winger is also capable of penetrating within the 50-yard line in order to locate forward targets.


The agility test at the National Draft Combine was completed by Hayes, who finished in third place with a time of 7.850. Additionally, Hayes ran the 2 kilometer time trial in a time of 6:16, which was the fourth quickest time.
