Songwriters such as Bryan Adams, Steve Winwood, Sheryl Crow, and Alanis Morissette have been nominated for membership into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

After the announcement of the nominees for induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame the following year, it was revealed that the nominees include hitmakers from every genre.

Bryan Adams, Janet Jackson, Sheryl Crow, The Doobie Brothers, Boy George, Steve Winwood, Alanis Morissette, and David Gates of Bread are among the artists who have been nominated for the “performing songwriter” category. Other nominees include rap icons Eminem and N.W.A., funk legend George Clinton, “Mony Mony” singer Tommy James, and Beach Boy Mike Love.


Among the individuals who have been nominated for the non-performing category are those who have written or co-written hits such as Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” With songs such as “Love Is A Battlefield” by Pat Benatar, “I Had Some Help” by Morgan Wallen and Post Malone, “Say My Name” by Destiny’s Child, “Build Me Up Buttercup” by The Foundations, “Ain’t No Woman (Like the One I’ve Got)” by The Four Tops, “Nightshift” by The Commodores, and “How Will I Know” by Whitney Houston.

Applicants are eligible for nominations twenty years from the release of their first “significant commercial release of a song.” Voting will continue until the 22nd of December, and the inductees will be honored in a gala event that will take place in New York City the following year.
