Rumored to be back and a “huge threat” to Ferrari is Lewis Hamilton “of old.”
Juan Pablo Montoya believes Ferrari might fight Lewis Hamilton for the championship, but in order for that to happen, he wants Ferrari to “build a car around” the seven-time world champion.
Since joining the Silver Arrows in 2013, Hamilton has won six of his seven World titles, setting records for success in the driving world. However, he will be leaving Mercedes after just six more race weekends in favor of Ferrari.
Title tease for Lewis Hamilton, “huge threat,” as Ferrari transfer approaches
Prior to the F1 2024 season, Hamilton’s sensational Ferrari transfer was revealed. The British driver is aiming to reclaim the top spot and secure a race record eighth championship.
And Montoya thinks Hamilton can develop into a powerhouse at Ferrari that challenges for titles.
“I believe the Lewis of old will return,” Montoya told Gambling Zone.
“He intends to exact revenge on everyone and demonstrate that their assumptions about him were incorrect.
“If all goes according to plan, Lewis could be a serious contender for a championship,”
Since winning the Constructors’ Championship in 2008, Ferrari has not seen title success; their last Drivers’ Champion was Kimi Raikkonen in 2007. However, Montoya thinks that Hamilton needs to be the one spearheading the car’s development if they are to break the drought with him.
Charles Leclerc, a 2019 graduate of the Ferrari Driver Academy who has competed for the Scuderia since 2019, will be Hamilton’s teammate.
“They really need to listen to what Lewis needs and build a car around him that Lewis wants if Ferrari really wants to succeed,” Montoya added.

Positively for Hamilton, Leclerc has stated that he thinks Ferrari can fight for the F1 2025 title and that better things will happen in F1 2026 and later when the new rules pertaining to chassis and power units take effect.
Indeed. Yes, it is. That will appear in the headline. In response to a question from The Race and ESPN regarding Ferrari’s chances of contending for the F1 2025 championship, Leclerc responded.
“It goes without saying that it is an ongoing process that is continually improving.
Therefore, I predict that everything will be optimized and that 25 will be nice, 26 will be great, and 27 will be even better. It’s all relative, though.
“No team is going worse every year except for one. It’s the degree to which the others have advanced.
