Richard Fitts Reflects On ‘Unreal’ Red Sox Start Against Yankees

This weekend, Richard Fitts planned to pitch at Yankee Stadium at some point, but he didn’t plan to start on Friday night.

Boston called Fitts’ number when Tanner Houck had to be scratched because of a sore shoulder. Fitts threw five innings without giving up a run. He struck out two batters and walked three. The Yankees won thanks to Aaron Judge, but Fitts showed that the Red Sox won the deal for Alex Verdugo.

MassLive says Fitts told reporters, “It was a pretty crazy night.” “I was happy to be here. I had to quickly figure out when I could start, but I was up for the task. I planned to pitch today. It’s pretty cool to be able to start here at Yankee Stadium.

The Yankees picked Fitts in the sixth round of the 2021 MLB Draft. He started out in Triple-A Worcester and will be a big help for Boston in the future. Even though Fitts’ night was ruined by the bullpen, the right-hander showed that he could soon be a regular player in the major leagues.A source from The Boston Globe says Fitts told reporters, “I’m just so blessed and thankful to be able to wear a Red Sox uniform now and hopefully for a long time to come.”

The Yankees have been let down by Alex Verdugo. Fitts and Greg Weissert’s strong performances in the big leagues, along with what Nicholas Judice could bring, show that Boston has a bright future ahead of them.
