In the midst of ongoing negotiations between the two clubs, it has been reported that the Swans have rejected the initial trade offer that North Melbourne made for the senior player Luke Parker of Sydney.

In spite of the fact that he still has one year left on his contract, Parker, who has played 293 games and was a former captain of the Swans, is looking to make a move to Arden Street during this offseason.

This week, negotiations have begun regarding a transaction that would formally result in Parker joining the Roos. The Kangaroos are planning to give draft capital to Sydney in exchange for the three-time winner of the best and fairest award.

In addition to having Picks 2, 25, 44, and 62 for this year’s Australian Football League Draft, North Melbourne has already traded Pick 67 (now 68) in order to acquire Jack Darling, an experienced player from the West Coast.

It has been reported by AFL.com.au that the Kangaroos have made an offer for Parker, which is their most recent selection, Pick 62. This offer was not successful in satisfying the Swans with their initial package.

A future third-round selection from North Melbourne, which would most likely fall within a similar range the following year, may be the selection that secures Parker for the team. Pick 44 might be the selection that secures Parker.Due to the fact that the Kangaroos also need to collaborate with the Western Bulldogs in order to potentially acquire utility player Caleb Daniel, the asking price of the 25th pick might be too high for them.

While Daniel is four years younger than Parker and has a contract for the next two years, both players found themselves on the outside looking in for senior selection this year at their respective teams. Daniel is also under contract for the next two years.

The club is open to moving back from Pick 2 by splitting that selection into numerous later picks while still remaining near the head of the draft line. Although it is unlikely that North Melbourne will add to their draft hand by selling players of their own, the club is open to the possibility of doing so.

As part of that maneuver, the team has the opportunity to acquire a later selection, which might enable them to make deals for either Parker or Daniel, or any combination of the two.
