Collingwood will fight back in court against grave accusations of racism, maintaining that the team operated legally.

If the bombshell claims are confirmed, the AFL has been urged to deduct premiership points from the Magpies.

In the paperwork, the lone respondent is the Magpies, and the only applicant is Mark Cleaver, the former head of First Nations strategy at Collingwood.

When Cleaver brought up the issue for the first time in March, the club investigated.

In addition to the internal procedure, the results were reviewed by an outside specialist. No workplace law violations were discovered during either process, the club said in a statement.

“After both procedures were completed, the ex-employee brought up further claims to Victoria Police, who looked into them and decided not to pursue any further action.

“The previous employee worked for Collingwood for a duration of six months.

“The reason the employment ended had nothing to do with their worries.
