Jude Bellingham scored the game-winning goal in injury time as Manchester City fell 3-2 to Real Madrid in the Champions League after letting a 2-1 lead slip. The fact that Kylian Mbappe had to change his boots was the most exciting aspect of the first ten minutes. Ederson then seemed to have given away a penalty for taking down Vinicius Junior nearly immediately after. However, it was deemed that the Brazilian attacker was offside. Kylian Mbappe’s chance and a number of other Real Madrid opportunities followed next. They seemed too good for Manchester City at this moment.

Erling Haaland gave Manchester City the lead with his first goal against Real Madrid, despite that early Real Madrid domination. Jack Grealish chipped the ball into Josko Gvardiol, who then played it to Haaland, creating the opportunity. The goal remained following a four-minute VAR review. Then, when Vinicius Junior struck the bar, Madrid was unlucky not to level. Unfortunately, Jack Grealish’s injury forced him to leave Manchester City after thirty minutes. Then Phil Foden took his position.

Carlo Ancelotti’s halftime remarks to his Real Madrid players were evidently ignored as Haaland struck the bar right after the restart. At the hour, Madrid tied the score as they kept playing. Dani Ceballos’ free kick appeared to be mishit by him, but it still went in. When it was determined that Dani Ceballlos had fouled Foden in the box, City took the lead. From the beginning, Haaland made no mistakes. It was insufficient to win the match. With six minutes remaining, Madrid equalised through the new Brahim Diaz. When Rico Lewis was nabbed on the ball in injury time, City fell apart. The winner was slotted in by Jude Bellingham after Vinicius Junior chipped it goalward.

Madrid nearly equalised after Rodrygo’s disassembling in a dangerous location, but they mostly held their own.

His night was anything but. didn’t do anything particularly wrong, but he wasn’t able to get in behind Madrid as often as he would have liked.

SUB – Luka Modric – 6/10
The great Croatian came on in the last 10 minutes, but he wasn’t able to alter the tide.

SUB – Fran Garcia – 5/10
arrived too late to have any impact.

Brahim Diaz, SUB: 6.5/10
didn’t do anything other than come off the bench and score Madrid’s equaliser.

Man of the Match
Eduardo Camavinga

Real Madrid urgently needed Eduardo Camavinga’s ability and experience in the midfield. They started the game strongly, but as City attempted to draw attention to their defensive shortcomings, they faltered. However, as they fought to stay in the game, Camavinga always appeared confident and at ease with the ball.

They knew they could continue to be a goal threat given their attacking prowess, provided they could maintain a strong midfield defense. Mbappe and Bellingham will surely make the headlines, even though Camavinga’s leadership played a significant role in the late Real Madrid victory.
