Ralf Rangnick, the former manager of Manchester United, has excluded three players from Rapid Vienna from his Austria team for the March international break. This decision was made due to their involvement in a homophobic chanting incident.

Guido Burgstaller, Marco Grull, and Niklas Hedl were seen on film singing homophobic chants during Rapid’s 3-0 victory against city rivals Austria Vienna on 26 February. Recordings of the chanting were shared on social media platforms. In one particular video, Grull and Burgstaller can be observed singing the phrase “Wir sind keine oaschwoamen Veilchen!”, which translates to “We are not individuals who engage in submissive behavior”.

Following the publication of those video footage, Rapid, Burgstaller, and Grull subsequently issued apologies for the incident. However, Rangnick believes that their efforts have been insufficient and he is adamant that they must “thoroughly tackle” the problem. As a result, he has declared that they will not be included in his most recent team selection.

“I will not accept this behavior in any team that I coach, whether it be a club or the national team.” “The principles we uphold with the national team are completely opposite, and I conveyed this message to the boys during our phone conversation,” he stated.
