Phil Foden thinks Sir Jim Ratcliffe is trying to sign an ‘unbelievable player’ for Man Utd

Phil Foden will be disappointed if Manchester United sign Eberechi Eze, having previously described the Crystal Palace star as “unbelievable”.

Despite spending £180 million on five new players this summer, United minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe shows no signs of slowing down financially. It is understood that the club plans to expand again in 2025, with a defender, a midfielder, and a winger on their shopping list.

Eze, 26, has many admirers at Old Trafford, including Ratcliffe, and United are apparently preparing a move for him next summer. The Eagles ace’s deal has a £68 million release clause that may be activated next year, and the Red Devils are understandably eager to launch a charm offensive for the player.

After all, they’re unlikely to be the only ones that follow Eze next summer. Tottenham, Manchester City, and Arsenal were heavily connected with him last month, and based on Foden’s recent comments, it’s evident that the midfielder’s signing would be approved.I just think he [Eze] is incredible, the way he controls the ball, everything about him, the way he glides on it, and someone I really like,” Foden, 24, said in a video posted to the England national team’s official YouTube page.

Despite links to some of England’s top teams, Palace received no offers for Eze during the summer transfer window, which surprised club chairman Steve Parish. “I was really worried from a club point of view of losing Michael [Olise] and Ebbs [Eze] in the same window and we didn’t have in Ebbs the interest that I thought we would have,” Parish told Sky Sports during the match.

“I was astounded.” Truly astonished. I mean, he’s a terrific footballer and person.”
