Melbourne Storm boss Ponissi on Collingwood’s radar

It has been claimed that Collingwood, a powerhouse in the Australian Football League, is interested in hiring Frank Ponissi, the football manager of the Melbourne Storm.
Ponissi, who has been a significant role at the Storm for a very long period, has been an essential contributor to the success of the club.

According to recent claims from 9News, the Collingwood Magpies are reportedly making efforts to entice him to move to the Australian Football League.

Despite the fact that Nine Wide World of Sports attempted to get Ponissi to remark on the rumors, he declined to comment on the news.

Following the departure of Graham Wright as club manager, the Magpies are presently looking for a new manager for the club, and they have highlighted Ponissi as a possible candidate for the position.A native of Melbourne, Ponissi has been a member of the Storm for the past 18 years, during which time he has collaborated closely with head coach Craig Bellamy.

Ponissi has been in charge of the club’s voyage to ten grand finals, during which period it has won five of those grand finals. However, two of those trophies were eventually taken away owing to violations of the salary cap in 2007 and 2009.

Ponissi’s current contract with the Storm, which was signed in 2021 and is for a period of four years, is scheduled to expire at the conclusion of this year.

Craig Kelly, the CEO of Collingwood, has expressed interest in Ponissi. Kelly is aware of the possibility of a huge cross-code conversion, which would be an extraordinary move for the Magpies.

Craig Bellamy, on the other hand, is under contract with the Storm until the year 2025 on a year-to-year basis, but his deal is locked in.

Recent rumors have suggested that Bellamy is interested in other coaching positions, mainly with the Blues. As a result, the Storm may be confronted with the enormous task of losing both Ponissi and Bellamy in a relatively short period of time.

Given the relationship that already exists between Collingwood and Ponissi, it would not be completely unexpected for Ponissi to leave Collingwood and join Collingwood.

Craig McRae, the current coach of Collingwood, has worked with Storm players in the past, and before he retired from the Australian Football League, Magpies icon Nick Maxwell held an official position at the National Rugby League club for a number of years.
