Manchester United enter race for NXGN wonderkid who’s already given rival club defender nightmares

Manchester United had started to hit form before the international break so will be itching to return. They won 3-0 away at Leicester City in their last outing. The Red Devils find themselves down in 13th place in the Premier League table.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, United are interested in Greece international Konstantinos Karetsas at Genk along with Liverpool, Newcastle United and Napoli. The player is said to have already rejected Manchester City in the past.

Karetsas, 17, is being tipped for a bright future in the game and his current club will face a battle to keep hold of him down the line. He caught the eye in Greece’s last match against Scotland and caused some serious problems for Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson. The teenager is an attacking midfielder who has bags of potential and he started his career at Genk before switching to Anderlecht for three years.

He ended up moving back to the Cegeka Arena in 2023 and he hasn’t looked back since. The Belgium-born man has become a key asset for their first-team over recent times. He has made 34 appearances in all competitions, 30 of which have come in this campaign, and he has chipped in with two goals.

United could see him as someone who is capable of breaking into their senior set-up. They would need to see off competition from rivals like Liverpool and Newcastle if they were to land him. Those two would be able to offer him European football which could turn his head. He was rated in 33rd place on Goal’s NXGN ratings.

Ruben Amorim has the chance to bring in some new signings this summer when the transfer window opens for business. The former Sporting Lisbon man also has the opportunity to free up space and funds in his squad by letting some individuals head out the exit door. His side have eight more fixtures left to play this season.
