Man Utd’s FA Cup defence continues with tricky Fulham clash at Old Trafford

Today, Manchester United will continue their defence of the FA Cup by playing Fulham at Old Trafford in a match that is expected to be a difficult affair.

The team coached by Ruben Amorim made it to this level in a controversial manner, edging over Leicester City by a score of 2-1 owing to a late goal scored by Harry Maguire that was scored offside. The fact that there was no video assistant referee in use was a significant stroke of luck for the Red Devils.

Amid the week, Maguire once again demonstrated his decisiveness by scoring the game-winning goal in a 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town.

They are in the right with history. United has a psychological advantage because they have won their past 14 FA Cup fifth-round matches since they were eliminated by Liverpool in 2006. This record offers them an advantage.

Watford and Wigan Athletic have already been ousted from the competition by Fulham, and they will be arriving in Manchester with four victories from their most recent five matches across all competitions.

Rodrigo Muniz has been outstanding recently, as evidenced by his two goals scored against Wigan and his goal that proved to be the game-winning goal in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ 2-1 victory.

On the road, Fulham has also been successful, as evidenced by the fact that they have won their past four matches away from home and have scored at least twice in each of their last seven encounters.

On the first weekend of the season, United was the only team to prevent Fulham from scoring away from their home stadium. This was accomplished by preventing Fulham from scoring.

There was also a historic victory over Fulham in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup in 2022-23. This victory came at Craven Cottage, where they won by a close margin of 1-0. It is still a concern for Amorim that injuries exist. Despite taking a knock during the match against Ipswich, Alejandro Garnacho is anticipated to be in good shape, and there are no new players scheduled to return.

However, Amorim has dismissed rumours that there are problems with Garnacho. “It was he who came to my office,” he stated. Despite the fact that it is not a problem, I advised him that perception is a significant factor at Manchester United.

The instability that United has displayed throughout this season makes them susceptible to defeat, although they have a solid FA Cup heritage.
