Main reason Amad was sent off during Manchester United vs Liverpool FA Cup quarter-final match
After leading Manchester United to a thrilling victory over Liverpool in extra time, Amad was sent off for a second offense that might have resulted in trouble.
On a counterattack, the Ivorian ran off and fired low into the lower corner, just inside the post. United fell behind twice in the first half before rallying to win the game.
Referee David Brooks gave the 21-year-old a second yellow card when he celebrated by taking off his shirt in front of the Stretford End. Not long after he entered the game, Amad was given a yellow card for preventing Liverpool from converting a fast free kick.
He won’t be able to participate in the first Premier League match following the international break, but he will be able to play in the semi-final against the Championship team Coventry City. On March 30, United will return to the Premier League when they visit Brentford in the nation’s capital.
That was enjoyable. Today’s victory was well-earned. “We played very well today,” he told ITV. “It was one of the best games of the season, so I’m very happy.”
“I overlooked the initial yellow.” Although I’m disappointed about being sent off, I think what matters most is defeating a strong team like Liverpool.
“I received congratulations from everyone, Amad! This is something you deserve. I’m grateful to everyone.
United will now travel to Wembley on April 20 or 21 for the semi-final after having to work hard to make it to the final four. The first goal was scored by Scott McTominay, who stabbed it in from close range. The visitors led at halftime thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Alexis Mac Allister.
After Antony, a second-half replacement, tied the score late in the game, the match went into overtime. However, Harvey Elliott restored the lead, forcing Erik ten Hag’s team to rally from behind once more.
