Lifetime Announces Three New Holiday Movies, Reuniting ‘Dr. Quinn’ Stars Jane Seymour and Joe Lando (EXCLUSIVE)

Variety exclusively reveals that Lifetime will bring back co-stars Jane Seymour and Joe Lando from “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” for a Christmas film this year. The pair is set to feature in “A Christmas Spark,” which Toni Braxton is executive producing. Additionally, Variety can disclose that two additional movies will be added to the network’s 2022 schedule for “It’s a Wonderful Lifetime”: “Merry Swissmas,” starring Tim Rozon and Jodie Sweetin, and “Kirk Franklin’s the Night Before Christmas,” starring Naturi Naughton and Luke James.

The story of “A Christmas Spark,” written by Eirene Tran Donohue, produced by Lighthouse Pictures and released by Sony Pictures Television, centers on Molly (Seymour), a recently widowed woman who chooses to spend Christmas with her daughter. She accepts the job of directing the town’s Christmas pageant there and soon discovers that Hank (Lando), the most eligible bachelor in the town, has captured her heart. Executive producers are Braxton, Stephen Bulka, and Jamie Goehring. Directed by Rhonda Baraka.Kirk Franklin’s “The Night Before Christmas,” penned by Tara Knight and helmed by Tailiah Breon, narrates the tale of an estranged mother and daughter, Journee (played by Naturi Naughton) and Nia (played by Lorea Turner), who are compelled to seek sanctuary inside a church on Christmas Eve due to a snowstorm. They run into Franklin, a music teacher, and James, an attractive youth minister, who inspires them to get back in touch. The film is produced by Swirl Films and Big Dreams Entertainment; executive producers are Alex Kerr, Tracy “Twinkie” Byrd, Eric Tomosunas, Angela Plasschaert, Leslie Greif, and Franklin.


In the film “Merry Swissmas,” which was made in collaboration with Reel One Entertainment for Lifetime, Alex (Sweetin) returns home to celebrate Christmas with her mother (Jane Wheeler), who is establishing an inn in Switzerland. She soon learns that her ex-boyfriend and best friend are also coming to town. She soon meets Liam (Rozon), a single parent who runs her mother’s inn, and he changes the way she sees forgiveness and love. Executive producers are Tom Berry, Barbara Fisher, Kenneth Hirsch, Laura Francis, Serge Desrosiers, and John L’Ecuyer. Additionally, L’Ecuyer directs from a Lauren Balson Carter scenario.
