Lewis Hamilton declared F1 GOAT in Coulthard ‘delusional’ message

Lewis Hamilton is the greatest of all time, according to David Coulthard, and anyone who disputes this is “delusional.”

At this weekend’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which concludes the F1 2024 season, Hamilton is getting ready for his farewell race with Mercedes, with whom he has won six of his seven World Championships and 84 of his 105 race victories. Hamilton will drive with Ferrari starting in Formula One 2025.

His 12th season with the Brackley-based club has mostly been frustrating because teammate George Russell has outperformed him in qualifying. He has, however, triumphed twice, at Silverstone and Spa.

“Based on his accomplishments, Lewis is the most influential driver in the history of the sport,” Coulthard told PlanetF1.com. And it is foolish to deny his magnificence.

He is the greatest Formula 1 driver in the sport’s history, according to data-driven business.

“Not by World Championships [he and Michael Schumacher have the same record of seven], but I don’t believe that winning an eighth or a ninth will increase his influence and legacy in my opinion.”

After finishing just 12th in Qatar a week ago, 39-year-old Hamilton, who has won five times in Abu Dhabi, is not expecting to win a sixth.

“This year, Lewis has sounded and looked uneasy,” Coulthard acknowledges.

Even if it’s a contentious comment, and some of his supporters will undoubtedly respond by asking, “What the f**k did that Scotsman ever achieve to make that statement?!?” this isn’t Lewis at his best.

“Never has a teammate outqualified him so frequently and reliably. Based on the evidence, if we’re being realistic, he isn’t playing at his best.
