Fremantle players do a running session at Kings Park on Saturday.

Fremantle conducted a strenuous running workout at Kings Park on Saturday morning before a brief preseason break this long weekend.

As they aim to make a comeback to the finals in 2025, the Dockers, who placed tenth in the previous season, have increased their training in recent weeks, including weekend sessions and match simulation.

Several players, including captain Alex Pearce and his deputies Andrew Brayshaw and Caleb Serong, gathered on the grassy hill close to the DNA Tower.

The other standouts were Luke Ryan, Jordan Clark, Josh Treacy, and midfielder Hayden Young.

Star ruckman Sean Darcy was not present because he had flown to Qatar to continue his recovery from a knee injury.

The young players who got a taste of the Dockers’ gut-busting preseason regimen included rookie Aiden Riddle, father-son pick Jaren Carr, and top draft pick Murphy Reid. The training on Saturday takes place before the club’s four-day vacation, which is stipulated by the CBA.

Next week, Fremantle will resume preseason training in anticipation of the Indigenous All Stars match on February 15 at Optus Stadium.

The Dockers have already declared Pearce, Shai Bolton and veteran Michael Walters to play for the All Stars, but Walters is rushing to recover from knee surgery.

On March 2, the Dockers will play Melbourne in their official preseason match at Rushton Park.
