On October 10, the Board of Trustees of Broadway Cares and Equity Fights AIDS unanimously voted to add eight industry stalwarts, all of whom have a shared commitment to the lifesaving impact that Broadway Cares has.

Joining the board: Kristin Caskey, executive vice president, content and creative at Ambassador Theatre Group; production stage manager Julie DeVore; Tony-winning actor Jonathan Groff; Jason Laks, interim president and general counsel at The Broadway League; production stage manager Johnny Milani; Erik Piecuch, senior vice president, entertainment banking at City National Bank; actor and Black Theatre Coalition co-founder T. Oliver Reid; and Actors’ Equity Association president Brooke Shields.

Please take note that Tom Viola, the Executive Director of Broadway Cares, is retiring.

According to Robert E. Wankel, who is also the chairman and CEO of The Shubert Organization and the president of the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Board of Trustees, “These eight luminaries are essential voices across our industry.” “Their expertise and one-of-a-kind perspectives will play a crucial role in ensuring the continued success and future growth of Broadway Cares’ grant-making and fundraising efforts,” the organization said. The board of directors of Broadway Cares is thrilled and happy to bring new and innovative perspectives to the table on a consistent basis.

The following individuals, Chris Boneau, Linda Duncombe, Adam Krauthamer, Stephen Lewin, Kate Shindle, and Charlotte St. Martin, are leaving their positions on the board after having served for a significant amount of time. In addition, the Board of Directors and the staff expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the contributions made by former trustees Chita Rivera and Gavin Creel, both of whom had died away within the past year.

Diversity and Equity Fights on Broadway AIDS is one of the most highly regarded industry-based nonprofit organizations in the United States that is dedicated to AIDS fundraising and grant-making. Since 1988, Broadway Cares has distributed more than $300 million to provide important services to persons living with HIV/AIDS and other critical illnesses across the United States.
