Jane Seymour was ‘penniless’ before she landed one of her most iconic roles. 30 years later, she’s busier than ever.

From her breakthrough performance as the psychic virgin Solitaire in Bond to her portrayal of one of the most iconic Western characters of all time to her scandalous performance in “Wedding Crashers,” Seymour is constantly reinventing herself.In a similar manner, Seymour’s most recent character is acting. On the Acorn television series “Harry Wild,” the 73-year-old actor portrays the title character, a retired English professor who discovers a second calling in solving mysteries alongside the troubled teen who once robbed her in Dublin.

“I absolutely adore it. It seems like a fantastic role to me. As for the show, which just recently debuted its third season, she expresses her gratitude by saying, “And I’m so grateful.” When they are in their seventies, who gets their own television show? There is no one.”

Seymour tells Business Insider that she has actually had no trouble finding roles that she adores, in contrast to the majority of older female celebrities who have stated that it is difficult to find meaningful work as they get older. What is the secret? It is not a problem for her to play supporting roles, such as the one she played in the Netflix romantic comedy “Irish Wish.”

“That thing took off like crazy,” she remembers thinking back on it. “Only two days were spent working on it! As a favor, I finished it. Like, “Oh, I’ll play Lindsay Lohan’s mom,” said the actor.

Seymour’s cup is always full because she does not act pretentious about the jobs that she takes and because she has a vibrant personal life. She also writes books, paints, and sculpts; in fact, she has a sculpture that is about to be installed in Calgary. In addition, she is the director of the Open Hearts Foundation, which is a charitable organization that supports charitable work. The mission of the foundation was inspired by her mother’s experience as a survivor of a Japanese internment camp during World War II.

“I think if I have a trick, it’s that I am excited about being creative and excited about loving and being loved,” she says in response. “I just feel blessed every day.”

BI’s Role Play series continues with the most recent interview, in which Seymour discusses You made your debut in the role of Solitaire in the film “Live and Let Die.” In hindsight, what are your thoughts on the plot of Solitaire, as well as your feelings about being a Bond character in general?

One must realize that when one thinks of a “Bond girl,” they automatically assume a high level of sexuality. To be honest, I was acting like a virgin. As a result of my lack of knowledge regarding sexuality, I was hired!

With regard to “Dr. Quinn,” I was required to appear and act as if I were a virgin, which I was able to do quite convincingly even when I was in my forties. It was something that I appeared to be able to get a handle on.

Regardless, it was an amazing experience at the time. I had just turned 20. It was an extremely intoxicating experience. However, after that, I came to the realization that in order to play the kinds of roles that I wanted to play and to apply the Shakespearean training that I had received in classical theater, I needed to return to the theater in order to demonstrate to people that I was capable of doing something other than looking pretty while running three paces behind a man who was armed.

Bond is a source of great joy for me. Being a Bond girl is an extraordinary experience in and of itself. On the other hand, I am extremely grateful that I was able to experience being 10,000 other people in between. Certainly, there are individuals who are under the impression that this is the only thing I have ever done!

Is it possible that, after all this time, you occasionally experience feelings of resentment due to the fact that some people recognize you primarily for that?

One thing is that everyone has a thing. People are familiar with me because of my work on “War and Remembrance.” Some people refer to it as “East of Eden.” However, I have only ever worked on two television series, so this time it’s either “Dr. Quinn” or “Harry Wild.”

Someone told me a very long time ago that I was a character actress, despite the fact that I was not one. A question that I asked was, “What does that mean?” They responded by saying, “Well, you look like a leading lady, but you can morph into different characters.”

When you were a leading lady, did you ever find it difficult to act the opposite of your appearance or to get roles that did not rely on your appearance?

My observations have consistently shown that the person who hires you is typically blind. That is to say, they are only able to perceive you as what they see in front of them at that very moment. In other words, I have a basket full of wigs, I put on makeup, I put on the appropriate clothes, and I pretend to be American or whatever it is that I am. In addition to that, I bring the character to the meeting in a literal sense. After that, they would say, “Oh.”

There are at least three different shows that I have appeared on while wearing this wonderful gray wig. These shows are “The Kominsky Method,” “Ruby’s Choice,” and “And You Are?” It works perfectly for me whenever I want to be in my 80s and look wrinkled and old even though I am not. It is incredible.

No, I am the one who creates the character and then presents it to them.
