At the beginning of the last week of the regular season, the Yankees were updated with positive information regarding the status of their injured reliever, Jake Cousins.

On Monday, an MRI was performed on Cousins’ right pectoral, and the results were positive. As a consequence, both Cousins and the team are optimistic that he will be able to return for the first round of the playoffs.

Aaron Boone, the manager of the Yankees, informed the media prior to Tuesday’s game that the right-handed pitcher will take a few days off before returning to throwing later this week and then gradually increasing his workload from there.

As a result of a pec strain, Cousins was placed on the injured list this weekend. His most recent appearance, which took place on Thursday night against the Seattle Mariners, lasted only six pitches before he was taken out of the game.

Because of the fact that his velocity was significantly lower than his season averages, the Yankees came to the conclusion that it would be in their best interest to take him out of action for the remainder of the regular season. He had been struggling with a pec issue for the prior few days.

As a fortunate turn of events for both him and the Yankees, it seems like his absence won’t last for very long.

Due to the fact that he was acquired from the White Sox in a trade, Cousins has been pitching quite well out of the bullpen for New York. He has had a 2.37 earned run average and a 1.05 WHIP over 37 appearances pitched.
