Ineos is not assisting Manchester United in their attempt to buy a £47 million defender, as worries about the amount render the deal doubtful.

Manchester United is in urgent need of bolstering their defensive lineup, and this next summer may witness a prioritization of this matter.

One of the main reasons for Manchester United’s difficulties this season has been the poor performance of their defensive department, which has been heavily affected by injuries.

If Lisandro Martinez can successfully overcome his recent fitness concerns, he is likely to be the only central defender at the club with a promising long-term future.

However, it is evident that Raphael Varane (30), Harry Maguire (31), Jonny Evans (36), and Victor Lindelof (29) have either surpassed their prime or are not sufficiently skilled for Manchester United to regain their competitive edge.

Consequently, it is highly probable that two new defensive players will join Old Trafford during the upcoming summer. However, one of the primary candidates is now deemed improbable due to questions around his financial compensation, and Ineos is not providing any assistance in this matter.
