The seven-time world champion, who is on his way to Ferrari, made his debut in the Dior campaign, which marked a significant turning point for the longtime collaborator with Tommy Hilfiger design labels. There is little doubt that Lewis Hamilton is making his debut in the world of premium fashion. As part of his first campaign for the French fashion company, the seven-time world champion, who signed a brand ambassadorship arrangement with Dior earlier this year, has made an appearance.

As Hamilton prepares to make the transition to the renowned Italian fashion house, the campaign for Dior’s new lifestyle capsule collection, which was designed by Kim Jones in cooperation with Hamilton, provides the first insight into his high-fashion era. As opposed to drawing inspiration from the pit lane, the photographs taken by Rafael Pavarotti highlight yet another one of Lewis Hamilton’s high-octane interests. In an interview with WWD over the weekend, Hamilton stated, “I started snowboarding when I was 23 — quite late, really — but I go every year without fail.” He also mentioned that he enjoys skydiving and surfing in addition to snowboarding. In accordance with Hamilton’s request, the ski-themed capsule was constructed using eighty percent sustainable materials, including the absence of animal leathers. His words were, “We want to make sure that it has an impact.”

Wide-leg pants, knit sweaters, and oversized jackets are included in the collection, which was photographed against the backdrop of a vivid blue mountain range. This silhouette is not foreign to Hamilton, whose daring fashion choices have transformed the entry to the Formula One paddock into a runway. In the most recent past, he has garnered attention in Austria, Hungary, and Baku while wearing head-to-toe Dior ensembles.

As a result of their mutual affection for Africa, the driver and Jones, who was born and raised in Africa, became close. Several of the pieces that the driver created featured elements that were inspired by African culture. It was in Burkina Faso that some of the fabrics were manufactured. According to Jones, “We are working with someone who is assisting us in locating sustainable fabrics across the continent, and we are also looking into what we can do to assist in educating the next generation of people so that they will be able to work in a studio like this.” On October 17, the collection will be made available for purchase both in-store and online.
