Collingwood
In the latest AFL trade news, the Collingwood coach has confirmed his interest in a new target while ruling out a move for a veteran forward.
The latest information regarding the Magpies’ off-season player movement plans has been provided by Collingwood coach Craig McRae. McRae has confirmed that the club is no longer considering Essendon’s Jake Stringer as a potential trade option, despite the fact that they are still actively seeking to bring in players via the window that will open the following month.
In recent weeks, Stringer’s services have been acknowledged as potentially obtainable. This comes after the former Bulldog was instructed that he has the ability to look elsewhere for a longer contract in the event that he desires to do so.
During the current season, the veteran forward activated a one-year contract for the year 2025. However, it is well known that he is interested in a multi-year agreement, which the Bombers are not now ready to grant.
In light of the circumstances, Stringer is currently evaluating his options on the open market, with Collingwood and Sydney being mentioned as potential destinations for the dynamic attacker.
In light of the fact that the Magpies’ interest in Stringer has waned, McRae disclosed that Stringer will not be wearing the black and white jersey in the upcoming season.
When it was brought to our attention that Jake Stringer had not signed a contract, we had a look at it. In an interview with SEN on Wednesday, McRae stated, “You have a look at the depth of it.”
Nevertheless, I am pleased to announce that Jake Stringer will not be joining our football team in the near future. Our investigation and all the things that go on behind the scenes were done in order to determine where he sits on our list, including his tenure and his salary. The next year, he will not be making his way to Collingwood.
The defending champions have made a late effort to try and outbid other interested teams, including Port Adelaide, in order to get the services of GWS free agent Harry Perryman. The Magpies have turned their focus to Perryman.
Given that Perryman is a free agent, there would be no cost associated with acquiring him through a trade. McRae has reaffirmed his desire to prioritize players over picks as part of his hopeful work to build back toward a position of premiership contention.
This is a fact, according to McRae, who stated, “We have interest in Harry.”
Since I am a coach, one of my goals is to recruit new players. Towards the end of the season, I made that statement. Fishing from the same pond is a difficult market to fish in. It is very difficult.
But I’m not interested in picks; I’m looking for players. Not just any player, but those who are going to help us out and improve our performance. With regard to that, we are somewhat deliberate.
“We think Harry can make us better and we’re hoping we can put a case to him that he thinks Collingwood is the place for him.”
