Giacomo Agostini weighs in on Marc Marquez, Valentino Rossi rivalry

15 times in total Gian Giacomo Agostini, the reigning world champion, has shared his thoughts on the competition that exists between Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez.

Despite the fact that Agostini is the only rider in the history of Grand Prix racing to have won more races than Rossi, Marquez has surpassed Rossi in the riders’ standings in all but two seasons (2015, 2020). This is because Marquez made his debut in the premier class in 2013, and he went on to win six titles in his first seven top class seasons.

According to an interview that Agostini gave to the Spanish journal Relevo, he stated, “Marc [Marquez] is my weakness because I believe that he excites the public, the people who go to watch the races.” There is no one who does not adore him because he is a man who puts on a show.

At the same time, Rossi is described as “A great,” according to Agostini.

An astute rider who is a rider. A person who has won nine world titles must be talented due to their natural abilities.

According to Agostini, the rivalry between the two drivers rarely resulted in on-track clashes that were boring, particularly outside of the year 2015. He attributes this to time as well as Marquez’s personal mentality.

That being said, it is still considered to be one of the most fierce rivalries that MotoGP has seen over the course of the past ten years.
