Lewis Hamilton, a legendary figure in the world of British auto racing, is such a follower of a plant-based diet that he experimented with it on his bulldog Roscoe, who was 12 years old at the time. Hamilton claims that the experience was entirely life-changing for Roscoe.

“Roscoe is almost like a different dog to when I first got him,” the Formula One driver, who is 39 years old today, says in an interview with PEOPLE. “I am always searching for methods to take care of his health and really just improve his quality of life, and his food is just one part of it. However, he has a substantial amount of more energy and does not struggle as much with the health difficulties he had in the past.Recently, Hamilton, who made the decision to move to a plant-based diet seven years ago, became an investor in the plant-based dog food Bramble. This decision was made because of the noticeable difference that the changeover has brought about.”I’ve had Roscoe with me for a long time, and the first eight years, he was on a normal diet for dogs that included meat,” Hamilton continues to explain.

Throughout his life, he struggled with his health and would have difficulty with activities such as walking and breathing routines. Because I was interested in determining whether or not there was anything I could do to assist him, I conducted some research on potential ways in which his health could be improved. I was aware that a plant-based diet was something that could be beneficial, provided that the dog was receiving all of its nutritional requirements, and as a result, I made the decision to give it a shot. The addition that he makes is that since he began feeding his dog a plant-based diet, not only has the dog experienced fewer health problems and more energy, but the diet has also been beneficial to the dog’s fur. Hamilton makes the observation, “Even his coat is softer, which is amazing because he loves to be petted!”
