Danny Murphy has publicly discussed the potential inclusion of West Ham player Kalvin Phillips in the England squad for Euro 2024.

The 28-year-old player was loaned to the Hammers from Manchester City during the January transfer window with the aim of obtaining valuable playing time before the tournament in Germany.

Nevertheless, Phillips’ problems have been worsened by his performances at the London Stadium, as a result of a string of mistakes and below-average displays that have caused him to be frequently dropped from the team.

During a live interview on talkSPORT on Wednesday (13 March, 11:46am), Murphy expressed that the situation has been exacerbated by his actions. During the limited time he has been on the field, his performance has fallen short of our expectations.

“I believe he will still leave because Gareth [Southgate] has a strong liking for him based on his past contributions to the England team.” Based on conversations with a few individuals familiar with the matter, it appears that he is undecided and could choose either option.

“He has been substituted at half-time on two occasions, with the most recent being against Burnley. Additionally, he has made a few errors and received a red card.” His situation couldn’t have been more unfavorable.
