Concussion Controversy: Kysaiah Pickett s Ban After Darcy Moore Incident

Exciting Melbourne forward Kysaiah Pickett will miss the start of the season for the second year in a row due to personal issues he encountered during the Demons’ 46-point loss to Collingwood in a lightning-delayed game.

Darcy Moore, the captain of the Magpies, was substituted out with a concussion during the second quarter at the MCG on Friday night after being collected high by Pickett, a habitual offender when it comes to awkward bumps.

Collingwood enforcer Brayden Maynard angrily retaliated against Pickett right away after being vociferously jeered by Demons fans each time he touched the ball, a reminder of his notorious altercation with Angus Brayshaw.

Pickett was suspended for a high bump on Patrick Cripps during the previous year’s semi-final loss to Carlton; therefore, he missed Melbourne’s opening match of the current campaign. The 23-year-old was also benched for one game following a run-in with Jake Soligo of Adelaide during Gather Round. The Demons have a strange way of being engaged in games that are interrupted; two examples are the lightning strike against West Coast in 2021 and the game when the lights went out at the Gabba against Brisbane last year.

Superstar Nick Daicos of Collingwood probably earned himself three more votes on Brownlow Medal night, propelling the Magpies ahead by 27 points at the half.

In what was essentially a low-key deadrubber, Collingwood’s title defence came to an end as the 21-year-old ran wild, finishing with 40 possessions and two goals.

Daicos may have done so already.

Melbourne’s season was challenging both on and off the pitch, and it ended with one last annoying event.

After play was halted for forty minutes by lightning, the last quarter lasted an astounding sixty-five minutes.

Early in the fourth term, there was a lot of rain, but an intense flash of lightning nearby worried the AFL officials sitting on the bench.

After five more minutes of play, with Collingwood leading by forty-one points, players were forced to leave the pitch. The Magpies went on to win the match, 15.13 (103) to 8.9 (57).

Hawthorn and Geelong were driven to the change rooms during the final quarter of their Easter Monday blockbuster, marking the second match at the MCG postponed by lightning this year.
