College of Charleston and No. 6 North Carolina State defeated the Tigers on the same day.

CLEMSON, South Carolina – On Sunday, the Clemson Tigers (18-5, 6-4) split the day by defeating the College of Charleston (7-7) 7-0 and losing a match against No. 6 North Carolina State (18-4, 10-0) by a score of 4-1. Both of these matches took place at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility.

Doubles was where the Tigers showed their dominance, and they provided the energy early on. Wissam Abderahman and Viktor Markov were able to overcome William Manning and Nikolay Nedelchev of North Carolina State University with a score of 6-3. Romain Gales and Max Damm earned the doubles point for the Tigers in an exciting 6-4 victory over the No. 23 ranked combo of Luca Staeheli and Jules Leroux. This victory came just a few seconds after the Tigers had claimed the point.

The number 31 Max Smith and Noa Vukadin drove the No. 9 team. The doubles match was won by Braden Shick and Fons Van Sambeek with a score of 5-4.


As the singles competition proceeded, Clemson continued to struggle, but the Wolfpack were able to quickly gain two set victories and finish the match with a score of 4-1. Due to the fact that No. 5 Virginia is the only other team in the ACC to have accomplished this feat this season, the Tigers have become the second ACC team to secure the doubles point from NC State.

On court one, the Tigers were victorious in doubles competition, as Vukadin and Smith defeated Charleston’s Mattia Bernardi and Eddie Vo by a score of 6-0 victory. Damm and Markov closed up the victories in doubles by defeating the Charleston combination on court two by a score of 6-3 to secure the doubles point. This victory was the final victory of the match.

Vukadin was the first player to gain a victory in the singles competition. He defeated Bernardi on court one by a score of 6-1, 6-1. The next player to emerge was Smith, who defeated Matias Gaedechens of Charleston by a score of 6-3 and 6-0 on court four. Smith’s victory came after Vukadin’s. Edoardo Cheire Ligniere, a freshman, won the match for the Tigers by a score of 6-1 and 6-2 on court five. This victory was the decisive factor in the contest.

Matt Pitts, Romain Gales, and Viktor Markov were the Tigers’ last singles winners, and they helped Clemson achieve a 7-0 sweep of the Cougars. Viktor Markov was the Tigers’ final singles winner.

On Friday, April 11, the Tigers will play their final regular season home game versus Georgia Tech. This match will be the final one of the season. The game is scheduled to take place at six o’clock Eastern Time (ET), and it will be the Senior Day match for the program. The team will be honouring Max Smith, Matt Pitts, and Max Damm with this match. ASSISTANCE:
