Despite the fact that she has been renowned since she was 12 years old, Brooke Shields has stated that she has never felt happier or more in control of her life than she does right now.

After experiencing near-death medical scares, the actress has joined a new campaign that encourages women over the age of 50 to “tell their stories and embrace their power” by taking care of their health. This news comes from RadarOnline.com, which can confirm that the actress has joined the campaign.

Shields, who is 59 years old, confessed that it is excessively simple for a woman to fall into the trap of placing the requirements of others ahead of her own.”I believe that many women have spent the majority of their lives taking care of other people, whether it be their siblings, parents, grandparents, or children,” she said in an interview with Closer.

“I think that we’re not really taught to prioritize our own health.”

“Often a woman asking questions about her health is quickly dismissed as difficult or hysterical,” the mother of two said, adding that there is also a stigma related to women who call too much attention to their own needs. She also mentioned that there is a sense of shame associated with women who do so.

“I think women shy away and have been taught to power through things, even when they know something is not right.”Shields has formed a partnership with the Thrive@50+ campaign that is being run by GSK in order to educate women to protect themselves against potential health concerns such as shingles, which is a painful rash that affects one million people year but can be easily avoided by receiving a two-part vaccination.

She shared her findings, saying, “I discovered that the virus that causes shingles is already present in the bodies of 99 percent of adults aged 50 and older.”
