According to sources from Spain, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid are getting closer to finalising a deal for the permanent signing of Joao Felix.

This summer, the Blues and Atletico Madrid were in negotiations about trades for Samu Omorodion and Conor Gallagher, but neither transaction was finalised.

Although negotiations broke down, Gallagher has returned to England, and Diego Simeone is still anxious to bring him to the Spanish city.

As the team looks for a solution for Gallagher, he is now training with Trevoh Chalobah and the Blues’ under-23 team.

Though, as previously mentioned, Enzo Maresca’s team had an initial bid of £38 million rejected for the Portuguese international, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid are still in talks over Felix.

Chelsea may have made a counter offer of €46 million (£39.2 million) plus €5 million (£4.2 million in bonuses), according to reports, and they could soon make progress.

Get Football News Spain reports that journalist Ruben Uria claims that Chelsea’s most recent offer for Felix is “more agreeable” to the Atletico management.

According to him, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid are almost done selling the Portuguese striker.

Felix can play left flank, false nine, or centre forward, thus he can cover for the Blues in a variety of ways this season.

He made 20 appearances overall and scored four goals while on loan at Stamford Bridge during the second part of the 2022–2023 season.

Felix, who was once regarded as one of the most promising players in Europe, will be hoping to fulfil his potential if he makes the last transfer to the Premier League, this time for good.

Before the transfer window closes, Chelsea may yet make further acquisitions, with Victor Osimhen of Napoli being a top target.

Additionally, they are attempting to remove undesirable players, Gallagher being one such example.

With 43 players, Chelsea has by far the largest team in the Premier League, and Maresca knows full well that this cannot continue.

Other possible exits are Trevoh Chalobah and Noni Madueke, while promising midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu signed a loan with Southampton.

In the upcoming weeks, Chelsea is anticipating a lot of action and will be hoping to finalise a deal for Felix as quickly as possible.

Maresca’s first major test as the team’s manager will take place on Sunday when the Blues take on Manchester City, the Premier League winners.
