Manchester United
Amid a contract stalemate, Real Madrid is reportedly targeting a £70 million “great” Manchester United “revelation.”
According to a Spanish rumour, Real Madrid is considering signing Kobbie Mainoo, a midfielder for Manchester United, this summer. Meanwhile, TEAMtalk explains Chelsea’s position on the matter.
Mainoo has made a name for himself with the Manchester United first team and is among the top young players in the Premier League. Ruben Amorim, the Red Devils’ manager, recently praised the 19-year-old for his performance in the number 10 position. He has scored one goal and provided one assist in 25 games in all competitions this season.
Although the England international has progressed through the Manchester United development system, there is a real chance that he will go this summer.
Earlier this month, the English media speculated that Mainoo will turn down Manchester United’s offer of a new contract and choose to relocate elsewhere.
The teenager, who reportedly demands £150,000 a week to sign a new contract, is valued at £70 million by the Premier League club.
The Old Trafford supporters may soon lose one of their most valuable possessions if Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a co-owner of Manchester United, rejects such terms.
The Spanish press has recently claimed that Madrid has developed feelings for Mainoo.
Madrid is “very interested” in Mainoo, who the report calls “one of the great revelations of the Premier League,” according to DefensaCentral.
Los Blancos are “alert” to the situation because the Manchester United young player has refused to sign a new contract. According to Fraser Fletcher, a transfer correspondent, Madrid is considering acquiring Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez during the summer transfer window.
The current Spanish and European champions are reportedly thinking about making a move for the Argentina international midfielder, according to sources who spoke to TEAMtalk.
Madrid is a fan of Jarrad Branthwaite, according to our Everton writer Harry Watkinson.
Branthwaite is also a target for Manchester United, although Everton wants to sign the defender to a new contract rather than sell him.
This season, Madrid will play Arsenal in the Champions League quarterfinals.
Arsenal crushed PSV over two legs to advance to the round of eight, while Los Blancos defeated city rivals Atletico Madrid in the Round of 16.
“Believe that you can,” stated Thierry Henry, a former Arsenal player, in reference to the match. To be honest, I’ve been in similar position with a team that has slightly less skill. When we drew Real Madrid, everyone laughed, especially in Spain.
“You may as well not go and play if you don’t think you can defeat Real Madrid, who are already better than you—better squad, better team, and they have 15 on the sleeve while we have none.”
“You might as well not go if you show up in front of Real Madrid with the intention of watching what happens. Dreams are built of this, and I do think that when you enter a game, you enter it with the belief that you can win.
“I’m telling you to believe that you can because I’ve seen Greece win the Euros and Leicester win the league. Will you carry it out? That is an entirely different matter.
“Observe how Atletico defeated them; they outperformed them numerous times, but it wasn’t enough. Even though I’ve watched City play Real Madrid a lot and really well, it wasn’t enough.
“Remain at home if you go there without the hope that you will succeed. In order to defeat Real Madrid, you must play flawlessly from the first minute till the referee sounds the whistle. We have seen teams that are strong both offensively and defensively, but not in the tunnel.
If you want to defeat Real Madrid, the game must be flawless. Even being flawless might not be sufficient; now, the team must demonstrate that they can perform both at home and away, which is a difficult assignment.
Mainoo is on the radar of Madrid top scout Juni Calafat, and other members of the club’s leadership also think highly of the Manchester United midfielder.
