When Aston Villa chose to transfer Douglas Luiz to Juventus this summer, it generated a lot of buzz.

Without Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and Financial Fair Play (FFP), Aston Villa would be unable to sell the player.

Ollie Watkins was rightly named Aston Villa’s Player of the Season for the previous season after scoring 19 Premier League goals and providing 13 assists.

However, based on his performances for Villa after signing from Manchester City in 2019, many believe Luiz is the club’s finest overall player.

The 26-year-old progressed from a player who scarcely spoke English to being able to speak well in that language, eventually becoming one of the league’s top midfielders and a Brazil international.

That’s why one of Italy’s top clubs approached him, but life hasn’t started as he had hoped, despite the fact that it’s still early.

Luiz has only played 55 minutes for Juventus, and he has now suffered his first major setback since moving to Turin.

The dead-ball specialist has been left out of Brazil’s current roster for World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay, which defeated Ecuador 1-0 on Saturday.
