A Gloomy Outlook for Tennis: Gabriela Sabatini s Thoughts on

Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, Argentine tennis legend Gabriela Sabatini has expressed doubts about the professional tennis circuit’s ability to continue play this year.
According to Xinhua news agency, Sabatini stated that prioritising other matters should come before the sport resumes its rigorous international schedule, which could happen in 2021.
“I believe it will be challenging to host any sporting event in the upcoming months,” Sabatini stated in the Subidos a la Red podcast, which was released on Sunday. The 49-year-old, who retired in 1996 after a career that featured the 1990 US Open victory and 11 Grand Slam singles semi-final appearances, continued, “I have my doubts that something can be done this year in tennis.”
The World Health Organisation recommended that the professional tennis season be paused in the middle of March. Since then, the ATP and WTA, the authorities that oversee tennis, have declared that the break will last until at least June 7.
For the first time since World War II, Wimbledon was postponed until last week, while the French Open was moved from May to late September.
“It’s difficult to think about the future and what may happen because precisely what you have to try is to avoid a lot of people coming together and in all these events that happens,” Sabatini stated.
This seems a little frantic. Though we always prefer to think about the future, we are unable to do so at this time. You never know how or when it will end. The good news is that everyone is in the same predicament because it is worldwide, therefore staying at home and maintaining good health is now crucial.”
In February 1989, Sabatini, who peaked at No. 3 in his career, stated that the tennis community should behave ethically “because that’s the best way to help each other.”
