Neville tips Man Utd to enter Alexander Isak race but Carragher names more likely destinations
When contemplating the possible next destination for Alexander Isak, Gary Neville has mentioned Manchester United. Jamie Carragher, on the other hand, has provided a more realistic forecast regarding the future of the Newcastle United star.
Isak has etched his name into the annals of Newcastle’s history by scoring a goal at Wembley Stadium, which gave the team a 2-1 victory over Liverpool and the League Cup earlier this month. In spite of the fact that they were the underdogs going into the match, Newcastle did an outstanding job of keeping Liverpool’s star player Mohamed Salah quiet on their path to winning their first domestic championship in seven decades.
Isak is considered by some to be the top striker in the Premier League and as one of the best in the world when it comes to scoring goals, and Newcastle’s victory just served to add to his already impressive reputation.
In an effort to prevent the Swedish player from moving for another major club this summer, Newcastle is currently on the verge of entering into contract negotiations with Isak.
It is common knowledge that Isak’s future will be heavily influenced on whether or not Newcastle is able to qualify for the Champions League in the next season. At this moment, they are in sixth place, two points behind the top four, and they have a game in hand upon them. If you take a look at how much time he still has left on his contract, you’ll notice that the ball is currently in Newcastle’s court; it’s not really in Isak’s. I believe that once you get down to two years on the deal, it’s almost a 50-50 chance, and no one wants to get down to twelve months (on the contract).
If Newcastle were to keep him for another year, they could say something along the lines of, “We’ll see you then because we’re going to get the same kind of money.” It is my opinion that Newcastle does not gain anything by selling him at this time, unless they were forced to do so.
As a result of this, there is no chance that Isak will leave the club in the event that Newcastle is able to qualify for the Champions League. I believe the club will respond with a negative response, which will be something along the lines of “No, do another twelve months, and in a year’s time we can make a few quid and you can move on.”
On the podcast It’s Called Football, experts Neville and Carragher speculated about the possible destinations that Isak could go to if Newcastle is unable to fulfil his expectations and fulfil his aspirations.
Neville has claimed that Manchester United might very well enter the picture, despite the fact that they have had a less than stellar season and have not played any UCL action. Carragher, on the other hand, is of the opinion that Arsenal and Liverpool are currently in the lead for the 25-year-old player who is extremely dangerous.
Neville interrupted Carragher’s question about which club Isak may be interested in joining by saying, “The reality is Newcastle are a great football club and we didn’t see that anymore [than] as we did on Sunday [the final].” Carragher was asked which team Isak might be interested in joining.
They will want to play for the Real Madrids, Liverpools, Manchester Uniteds, and Bayern Munichs of this world, and it is only normal that these players will want to play at those clubs at some point in the future, if they are able to do so. However, the top players at Newcastle will want to play for those clubs.
“I think the only two options [for Isak] at the moment would be Arsenal and Liverpool because they are both sort of crying out for a striker,” Carragher responded. “Isak is a striker.” knows that in order for Newcastle to even consider selling Isak, they will need to receive an offer of £120 million (or €144 million or $155 million).
Mikel Arteta has stated that Isak is the striker that he would most like to have at Arsenal, and TEAMtalk has previously disclosed that the player would be open to joining Liverpool if they were able to come to an agreement with them.
Despite the fact that Neville would be thrilled to see Isak take over as the number nine position at Old Trafford, it is extremely unlikely that such a trade will take place.
As was noted earlier, the sophisticated forward is asking to play in the Champions League on a regular basis, which is not something that is assured at Manchester United at the moment.
In addition, Manchester United are operating under a limited budget, and they are unable to afford to spend the entire budget on a single statement signing like Isak.
Sancho is the most recent transfer to Manchester United, and the club has also made two moves in Serie A.
David Ornstein has disclosed the amount of money that Chelsea will be required to pay to Manchester United in the event that they do not agree to permanently sign Jadon Sancho.
This sum is fixed at £5 million, and Chelsea is currently considering what to do with the winger in light of the fact that he has not contributed any goals.
United is reportedly interested in acquiring the top Serie A duo of Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, according to one of the separate reports.
If United were to move Joshua Zirkzee to Napoli in a player-plus-cash deal, they would be able to lower the amount that is required to sign Osimhen.
