Manchester United
There are ten transfers that Christopher Vivell will be trying to emulate at Old Trafford, and they are ranked by Manchester United.
As part of their efforts to strengthen their position in the transfer market, Manchester United has hired Christopher Vivell to the position of director of recruitment.
Vivell initially joined the club on a temporary basis during the summer of last year. After securing a multi-year contract, he will now be in charge of United’s global recruitment department.
In the past, the 38-year-old individual has worked as a scout or a technical director for Chelsea, Hoffenheim, Red Bull Salzburg, and RB Leipzig. He has also had positions at Chelsea.
Ahead of a significant summer transfer window for United, we have taken a look at ten of the most successful transfer tales that he has experienced throughout his career.
Amadou Haidara, number ten
After beginning his career with the Mailian club JMG Academy Bamako, Haidara was discovered by Red Bull Salzburg in 2016 and agreed to a contract with the club. He was only 18 years old at the time.
In the beginning, the midfielder was a member of their feeder club, FC Liefering, which competed in the Austrian second level. However, it wasn’t until the 2017/18 season that he became a regular member of the first team.
After winning two titles in the Austrian Bundesliga, he was picked up by his sister club, RB Leipzig, in January 2019 for a transfer fee of €19 million. His strong achievements contributed to the transfer.
9. Noah Okafor In January of 2020, Red Bull Salzburg paid a then-club record amount of €11.2 million to acquire Okafor from FC Basel, a Swiss team for whom he had previously played.
During his time with Salzburg, the winger contributed to the club’s success by scoring 34 goals and assisting on 23 others in 110 games. As a result, Salzburg won four Austrian Bundesliga crowns and three Austrian Cups.
After being linked with a number of teams in Europe’s best divisions, he ultimately decided to sign for AC Milan in the summer of 2023 for a cost that was perhaps in the neighbourhood of €15 million.
Eighth, Mohamed Simakan 9.
Following his ascent through the ranks of the Red Bull organisation, Vivell was given the position of technical director at RB Leipzig in the month of August throughout the year 2020.
As a result of his identification of Simakan as the appropriate successor for Dayot Upamecano, he reached an agreement with RC Strasbourg, a Ligue 1 club, to pay them €15 million.
The centre back was able to win two DFB-Pokal titles and a DFL-Supercup while playing for Leipzig before sealing a transfer to Al Nassr of the Saudi Pro League in 2024 for a fee of €45 million.
