According to a source, Trevoh Chalobah is in a position to make a comeback from his injury in time for Chelsea’s Conference League match against Copenhagen on Thursday.

Chalobah was brought back from his loan with Crystal Palace in January and soon established himself as a regular starter. However, the centre back was forced to sit out on the bench due to an injury that occurred early in the match against Aston Villa, which took place a month ago.

It wasn’t long until Blues manager Enzo Maresca allayed concerns of a serious injury, and according to the Evening Standard, Chelsea is now optimistic about the possibility of welcome Chalobah back into the fold before the first leg of the match next Thursday.

It is possible that Wesley Fofana will make his first appearance of the competition for Chelsea when they travel to Denmark to play the domestic league leaders, Copenhagen. Fofana returned from injury as an unused substitute in the 4-0 victory over Southampton, but he is not included in the Conference League squad. Maresca disclosed that the French defender is one of a group of players who are being restricted to playing one game per week in order to help manage long-term injury concerns.

The four players who are now out of action for Chelsea are Nicolas Jackson, Romeo Lavia, Noni Madueke, and Marc Guiu. However, there is optimism that all four players will be able to return to action following the international break that will take place this month. Prior to that, the Blues will play Leicester City and Arsenal.

After participating in team training not so long ago, centre-back Benoit Badiashile might be able to return sooner than expected. With the addition of Cole Palmer, an aggressive midfielder, the team is now prepared to compete in the knockout stages of the tournament. Mathis Amougou, who signed with the team in January, might possibly be involved.
