Taking ‘Flight’: Il Volo is spreading its wings

During their time in Los Angeles, the Italian “popera” duo Il Volo engaged themselves in American traditions while they were participating in English classes.

According to Ignazio Boschetto of Il Volo, who spoke to Zoom, “We were living in Marina del Rey, and I remember every morning, waking up, renting a bike, and riding almost all the way to Malibu and back.”

They were able to get a taste of what young adults do by watching films, watching “Football,” and hanging out on campus. Considering that Boschetto, Gianluca Ginoble, and Piero Barone were each a member of the Italian television singing competition show “Ti lascio una canzone” in 2009, the act was created at that time.

As soon as Michele Torpedine, who had previously managed Andrea Bocelli and Zucchero, took notice of Il Volo, the band immediately began touring. Their debut album, which was titled after themselves, encouraged them to take part in the “We are the World for Haiti” campaign.

As a result of their collaborations with important international musicians and venues all over the world, the men, who are now in their early thirties, have become the most popular Italian trio in the world.

The Peacock Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles will be the venue for the performance of Il Volo, which translates to “flight” in Italian.

Barone stated, “We are celebrating this beautiful journey as well as our 15 years of being together to celebrate this wonderful journey.” “As for what you may anticipate, we are going to be singing the most significant standards that we have been singing for the past 15 years, which are the American and Italian standards. Because our objective is to give visitors the impression that they are in Italy for just one night, we are really excited about this endeavour.

For the three of them, the marathon has been an inspiration. It was described by Ginoble as a “beautiful journey.” Capolavoro, the song that was awarded the Disco d’oro and is included on the album “Ad Astra,” was the group’s contribution to the Sanremo festival that took place the previous year.

At Bocelli’s special event in Los Angeles on December 8th, Il Volo was a special guest and participated in the event. The three musicians gave a performance on the notes of “Il Gladiatore” and “O Sole Mio,” with Bocelli contributing to the latter. The group made a significant impression with their Christmas concert, which was recorded at the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento on the evening of Christmas Eve.

In a statement, Ginoble stated, “We grew up together, performing the music that we love, spreading (music), and following in the footsteps of our idols Bocelli and Pavarotti.” We consider it a privilege to be able to share (music) with people of our age and younger generations. It is a wonderful sight to see people of all ages attending our performances, particularly in the United States, where this kind of culture is quite strong—not only for Italians, but also for those from the United States.

Furthermore, Ginoble stated that this particular genre of music has a strong connection to culture. Comparable like visiting a museum and appreciating all of the artwork that are on display. In the same way, when you go to the opera and listen to “La Traviata,” it is the same thing that happens when you listen to music. Due to the fact that it is not instantly accessible, it is something that calls for a particular kind of sensitivity in order to comprehend.

“If you listen to any music and turn on the radio, you will notice that it is typically fairly straightforward. To be successful in this kind of endeavour, however, you need to be intent on comprehending and respecting the culture.

American culture is something that Il Volo values.

“I remember meeting a Latin guy who was attending LA’s university,” Boschetto added. “I was in LA at the time.” “I was invited to participate in a game of ‘football’ at the university. I gave boxing a shot. While we were in the process of taking lessons, Gianluca sustained an injury, which forced us to halt. Still, I had a good time.”
