Rafael Leao of AC Milan is apparently a target for Manchester United, according to Spanish publication Fichajes.

The Portuguese, who joined the Rossoneri from LOSC Lille in 2019, has been a vital member of the first team of the Italian powerhouses, helping them win a Supercoppa Italiana trophy and a Serie A championship.

He has struggled to perform at his peak lately, though, and has even started this season on the bench in a number of games. This season, the 25-year-old has made 36 appearances across all competitions, tallying nine goals and eight assists.

According to Fichajes, Milan has saddled Leao with a hefty £83 million price tag and is prepared to split ways with him in order to raise money.

Because Ruben Amorim wants to strengthen the left wing, Manchester United has expressed interest in signing him. To entice him to Old Trafford, United is even willing to make a substantial investment.

The record Premier League champions won’t have an easy time acquiring the Portuguese international, though, as both Manchester City and Al-Hilal, a Saudi Arabian team, are interested in employing him.

Milan is well-positioned to maintain its valuation because Leao still has three and a half years left on his current contract.

The forward is a technically proficient left winger who is incredibly fast, adept at dribbling past opponents’ defenders in confined spaces, and effective at setting up other attackers.

United hasn’t had a reliable left-sided forward since Marcus Rashford left. Alejandro Garnacho is a possibility, but he needs time to develop his career because he is still extremely young.

If United were to sign Leao, he might be able to bring out the best in the striker because he and Amorim are compatriots. Leao could be a wise signing.

Amorim has previously stated that he wants to hire players who can assist him in implementing a high-pressing style of football, but the AC Milan star has a relatively low work rate off the ball. Leao might not be the best choice to bolster Manchester United’s left wing as a result.
