Olesh, a 6-foot-4, 235-pound tight end from Ohio, had committed to Michigan since last February and was regarded as one of the best talents in his class. Many anticipated that he would play a significant role in the Wolverines’ offence the following season, making him a top target for the coaching staff.

In a shocking reversal, however, Olesh announced on social media Wednesday afternoon that he would be swapping schools with Penn State, joining a Nittany Lions squad that has grown to be a Big Ten powerhouse.

Olesh posted on Twitter, “I want to express my gratitude to my entire family, coaches, and teammates at Michigan for their love and support.” “However, I have made the decision to decommit from Michigan and commit to the University of Pennsylvania, where I will have the chance to play for Coach (James) Franklin and the entire Penn State staff, after giving it some thought and speaking with my family and coaches.”

The news thrilled Penn State supporters, who flooded Olesh’s Twitter account with welcome messages and congrats. One of the messages said, “Welcome to the family, Andrew.” Another wrote, “We are happy to have you here.”

For Penn State, which has spent the last three years developing a potent tight end room, Olesh’s selection is a huge win. Although the Nittany Lions already have a strong group of seasoned tight ends, such as senior Brenton Strange, Olesh is a highly desired acquisition due to his versatility and pass-catching abilities.

According to someone close to Penn State’s coaching staff, “he’s a game-changer.” He is a 6-4 tight end who can play as a receiver at times and line up as a traditional blocker. He is quick, agile, and skilled enough to outmanoeuvre defences that attempt to take advantage of his stature.

Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State were all competing for Olesh’s attention during the protracted and fierce recruitment process. However, the 17-year-old prospect consistently insisted that he was dedicated to the Wolverines, which made many assume that he would fulfil that promise.

But once word got out about Olesh’s choice, many people started to wonder why he changed. According to a person close to the family, Penn State’s coaching staff might have presented a stronger argument, emphasising Olesh’s ability to start immediately and help the team succeed.

On Wednesday night, Michigan’s coaching staff was not available for comment. However, many fans of the show flocked to social media to show their sympathy and support as word of Olesh’s decision spread.

One fan said, “Thanks for the memories, Andrew.” “You have our support at Penn State.”

In order to have an immediate impact on the field, Olesh will register at Penn State in the spring and take part in spring practice. The Nittany Lions’ recruiting class, which is currently among the best in the Big Ten, will benefit greatly from his dedication.
