Watford FC will never forget 2014 transfer deal involving Udinese

After spending nine straight seasons in the Championship, Watford FC’s return to the Premier League in the 2014–15 season was an amazing victory, and the team that helped them get back to the top flight will always be remembered by the fans.

After being demoted to the second division in 2007, the Hornets were unable to immediately return, falling to the eventual winners, Hull City, in the play-offs.

Only once before their promotion season did they finish in the top six, defeating Crystal Palace in the Wembley final after shockingly defeating Leicester City in the semi-finals.

But following a successful summer window, there was a lot of optimism going into 2014–15, and as Giuseppe Sannino prepared for the new season, Watford’s game-changing move was the loaned arrival of Odion Ighalo from Udinese.

Ighalo performed admirably during the championship.
Despite winning four of the team’s five games, the manager who brought the Nigerian to the Hornets resigned a month into the season after the player had a sluggish start to life in England and failed to score in any of his first five league outings.

However, on October 24, Udinese ended his loan early and dissolved his contract to provide the Championship team the chance to sign him permanently. This was done in light of Slavisa Jokanovic taking over at Vicarage.

After his early run of form, the 25-year-old found it difficult to score goals again, but in 2015, he made significant progress in his Watford career.

Watford’s goal is celebrated by Odion Ighalo.
He opened a run of 14 goals in just 10 games, including four at home against Blackpool, as the Hornets kept their spot in the top six with a goal against Cardiff City at the end of December in a 4-2 victory.

Due to a 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday on the last day of the season, Jokanovic’s team narrowly missed out on the league title, finishing the season with an incredible record of just one loss in 14 games. Ighalo added three more goals to his already impressive total of 17 goals to help his team earn automatic promotion.

After that, Ighalo’s performance in the Premier League persisted.
Watford and Ighalo were always going to find the move to the Premier League difficult, but it didn’t take long for the former Manchester United striker to start playing well in the top tier.

As the Hornets were beaten to a 2-2 draw away to Everton at Goodison Park, he scored his team’s second goal of the season in their very first game.

Six cons were scored by the Nigerian.Ighalo began making an impression at Road, scoring three goals in three games to propel the Hertfordshire team into the top two.
