Following a driver’s meeting at the Mexican Grand Prix, the International Federation of Automobile Manufacturers (FIA) is reportedly planning to close the ‘ahead at the apex’ loophole, which has enabled Max Verstappen to defend himself so aggressively against his competitors in Formula One.

A heated debate broke out within the paddock this time around as a result of Verstappen’s aggressive behavior during his battle with Lando Norris at the United States Grand Prix that took place last weekend. Many of his competitors called out his borderline moves, but they acknowledged that they were legal according to the regulations.A statement issued by the Federation of International Automobiles (FIA) provided clarification regarding the meeting by elaborating that “there was a general commitment to continue to update the driving standards guidelines.”

Some of Verstappen’s fellow drivers will find this to be a tremendously satisfying development. The spirit of his attacking moves in the paddock at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez was praised by a number of drivers, including Norris, who is currently competing for the championship, and Lewis Hamilton, who was his former opponent.

As of right now, a report from Motorsport.com indicates that the FIA is doing the following: On Thursday, Hamilton stated that it has always been a questionable ambiguity. There is a high probability that they will need to make some modifications. Additionally, we do experience inconsistencies in the form of rulings, which vary depending on the stewards who are present.

In addition, as a sport, we do need to improve in every aspect of our game. I had numerous encounters with Max in this regard. It shouldn’t be possible to simply launch the car up the inside and then go off while still maintaining the position,” the author writes.

Following a ‘unusually long’ driver’s meeting in Mexico City, a Formula One driver was given a grid penalty but will not be required to serve any punishment at the Mexican Grand Prix. The grid will be presented with the proposed changes at the next meeting, which will take place in Qatar the following month.
