As Andre Agassi made his way back to the Australian Open this past weekend, he couldn’t help but think of his former wife, Steffi Graf.

At the event that took place at Melbourne Park on Sunday, the tennis superstar, who is 53 years old, was present for the first time since 2019 in order to present the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup and the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup before the first ball of the tournament actually struck the court.

“Talk to me 🇦🇺❤️!!” A carousel of photographs and videos taken at the event were annotated by Agassi and posted on Instagram. To begin, he went down and kissed a black-and-white photograph of Graf, who was 54 years old at the time, accepting the trophy that was awarded to him at the event in 1994.

In addition, he uploaded a video of himself touching a banner that bore Graf’s name and highlighted the years in which she had won the women’s competition before she retired in 1999. The years that were shown on the banner were 1988, 1989, 1990, and 1994. Before retiring from the sport in 2006, Agassi won the men’s event in 1995, 2000, 2001, and 2003. He also won the tournament in 2003.When you sign up for the free daily email that PEOPLE provides, you will never miss a story. They have two children together: Jaden Gil Agassi, who is 22 years old, and Jaz Elle Agassi, who is 20 years old. Agassi and Graf got married in 2001.

An interview that Agassi gave for the radio show Fifi, Fev, and Nick For Breakfast took place while she was in Australia. In the conversation, she discussed the key to a happy marriage.

“You pick your battles, man, you pick your battles,” he added after joking that the first one he learned not to pick was talking about the trophies he won. He explained that Graf would then go out and win more of her own to bring home. “You pick your battles, man,” he continued.
